4:30

Last night,Our blood boiled
And we took up arms in aged battle
Alas, when we parted
Moses's Rod lay between us

Who was Pharaoh?
And who was Jew?

So, we lay
Bodies cold, tongues sour
Sacks filled with grit
In the chill after a pour

And when I heard the footsteps of dawn
And Soleil sought us
I sought to mend that which was torn
To make my part yours

And my touch was a stone in a pond
And once again a battle raged
But this time, Our fires burned
All as a cock bore his message

FORGETTING

Where do people go when you forget them?
Do they runoff like a dewdrop on a leaf?
Or do they etch on your mind
Like the markings on a tombstone?

You built a house in my head
And now you sit on the porch
While whistling you whittle away my mind
And all bloom are charred by your torch

You call on the strangers that pass by
All of your own kind
With shiny eyes and rusty thoughts
Warm words and cold hearts

And though there we share a drink
The doors remain barred
And no matter what I may think
The timber remains scarred

For in the end
I never forgot you.

OWU

I dry

My wallet be like fish head
Nothing dhe inside

My eye don red
But e no fit red pass my account
When my money  go rise?
Like garri wey oversoak

No be say man pikin no get plans
Na say man pikin no get cheddar
My dreams come be like better soup
Na money killam

Like this,
I no fit run Caro Parol.

Ówū na Bastard!

EMPTY

Alone
Sorrow sodden songs
Stir sweet thoughts of pain
Memories of cold Suns and Scorching rain
Of sweet kisses and Sour tongues

Empty silence filled with thoughts
Of first hurts and deep cuts
Here, Midas Curse rusts
And Vinegar nourishes

Venus words sweet and wry
My temple takes repeated shelling
My heart caves in,bats' dwelling
Emptiness Sired by Love's Lyre

Empty like the tomb on the third day
Like the wine has seeped away from the kegs
Through holes punctured by trust
All that is left are dregs

My Heart is Empty.

IF I COULD LOVE...

If I could love...

I would love you

Make your voice my song
Your soul my mirror
The letters I write would be long
Of tales and of me the hero

If I could love...

We would bring Shakespeare to life
And Tristan & Isolde would never die
Our love would bloom like rye
And of it we would be drunk

Only if I could love...

Until then...Come
Let us be friends
Hold my hand while I hold back
For I will love you when Thomas believes

Our laughter shall ring far
And our tale even farther
Of a Prince who could not woo his Princess
And the pall of friendship I will bear

But in time, open your gates to me
For even friendship comes with benefits

ON SUNDAY MORNINGS...

Our opium we gather to smoke
To revert back to the bliss
Snatched seven days thence
For there it's on him and not me

Let me go lest I be the evil one
Where then is my Purple robe
And Let my hands never lack luster
Who can wear better?

In the house of the Lord
Which we have built
We clap to bring Jericho down
While our pride stands erect

We gather before plates of rice
Who remembers Lazarus at the door?
I do not for he looks to the Crescent Moon
Spirits felt,left aft' noon

Bodies clad in fine silk
Our foots set for the square
To meet those of same ilk
And forget where afore we were

I lie and pen this
Seven days hence
Our opiums we will go to smoke
To revert to the bliss

 LOVE ME FROM AFAR

I am Icarus to your sun
I am entranced by your beauty
Singed by the sound of your laughter
Lifted by the weight of your gaze

They say eyes are windows to the heart
Then your heart is a furnace
For your eyes breathe fire
A fire I long to drown in

Look into my windows
Into the house I have built for you
Lie on the beds made of silk and Peacock's feather
And there you shall shame Aphrodite

But when you look,do not come in
For the Book says that she that comes by the windows comes to steal
And my heart remains with me
For I love none but me...
